Out of their Right Minds (Dec 04 2003 22:59 GMT) - Conservatism is Crazy, but Psychiatry is Here to Help: "For centuries, statesmen and philosophers have argued about just what modern political conservatism really is: aristocratic or meritocratic, orthodox or libertarian, reactionary or triumphalist. The ability to subscribe to blogs ... (Dec 04 2003 22:58 GMT) - The ability to subscribe to blogs and other websites via simple syndication software is a very big deal, writes Scott Rosenberg (worth clicking thru the ad): "Along with blogs, RSS fulfills the Internet visionaries' prediction that we'd all find a set of 'human filters' to help us navigate the new information seas." My blog software, Radio, has a built-in aggregator. |

The Ultimate Limit of Computers speed (Dec 04 2003 22:56 GMT) - The last twenty years have seen an extraordinary rate of increase in computer speed and capabilities. A truism in the industry is that the transistor count of available microprocessors doubles every eighteen months. This is, of course, termed "Moore’s Law". It pays to keep in mind, however, that this isn’t really a law, but only an observation, and does not reflect any underlying natural truths. Almost everyone thinks that at some point, we will hit an undefined snag in computer development, and Moore’s Law will falter. |

I'm concerned for my friend Paul (Dec 04 2003 22:56 GMT) - He seems to be losing it. On a side note, if I were to build a bomb to place in a car, it wouldn't be in a metal box underneath the car, nor have a blinking LED. I'd probably pull... |

I posted awhile back about ... (Dec 04 2003 22:55 GMT) - I posted awhile back about how I was so jealous of Mac users because they had Voodoopad, a nifty desktop wiki/notepad with export and linking capabilities. I searched in vain for a Windows version. My query to those of you out in reader-land seemed to fall in deaf ears. Sheesh, I expect much more from the two of you! Anyway, months after giving up the search I stumble upon WikidPad, which looks like it may have the features I want: |
