those poor characters! (Dec 05 2003 20:44 GMT) - I just finished The Reverse of the Medal and I think Patrick O'Brian is the absolute master of character torture (and, that goes to follow, reader torture.) Not only do the worst things possible happen to his characters, but he had this habit of ending his books in cliffhangers. This one is especially bad for that. I don't have The Letter of Marque yet, either. >_ |
