blojsom rss / atom aggregator dispatcher idea (Dec 06 2003 00:57 GMT) - When David Czarnecki recently announced the FreeMarker dispatcher for blojsom, I mentioned to him that I have been thinking about creating an iCite dispatcher as well. The idea is simply that an iCite (er, should one ever go live) could be a source for a blojsom blog. One thing about this that I thought might be cool is that iCites can aggregate content from remote sources. So, I realized, if such a dispatcher existed, it would effectively act as an aggregator. And, so, I thought a similar RSS / Atom aggregator dispatcher would be neat. |

Dark Jedi, just like Darkside. (Dec 06 2003 00:56 GMT) - Little Fayoumis wants a double-bladed red lightsaber, and a Dark Jedi costume, just like Darkside. He says that he and Darkside are twins. He asked permission to call Darkside, and did so. He got to talk to Darkside's mom, and left a message saying that he wanted to be on Darkside's team. I called back a bit later and let Darkside's mom know that yeah, that was the Little Fayoumis who called, and by the way, my holiday schedule is doing interesting things, as votania's work schedule has been taken and shaken and turned upside-down because of personnel shufflings. |

JPEG 2000 (Dec 06 2003 00:54 GMT) - As promised yesterday, here comes an comparison for traditional, Fourier transform based JPEG compression versus all new and exciting Wavelet transform based JPEG 2000 compression. I found it quite hard to come up with a decent comparison. To begin with, in this exciting age of digital cameras, I simply don't have high-quality photos. And photos taken in poor light conditions or with JPEG artifacts already in them may make bad material for a comparison. Thus I settled for a bit of a screen shot to do this as this was easy to achieve, it contains subtle details (X. |
