Blog Day (Dec 06 2003 15:00 GMT) - Yesterday was Blog Day on BBC Radio Scotland. 16 webloggers from across the country presented a snapshot of a 'day in the life of Scotland', via their own personal weblogs. Surprisingly, it was a worthwhile experiment, and it's a thoroughly interesting listen - featuring the actual voices of the webloggers themselves reading material taken directly from their blogs written on 5 November 2003, along with contextualised material from Radio Scotland's programmes on the same day. Some of the entries sound more natural than others, but that's just the nature of orated text.It was produced by one of my fellow-BBC colleagues in Radio, Margaret Telfer of Little Blip, where she catalogued much of her progress during the course of compiling the documentary. |

'24' star finds action on FBI drama (Dec 06 2003 15:00 GMT) - Leslie Hope doesn't say much when she first appears on camera in the new series 'Line of Fire'. Awakened by an early-morning phone call, Hope's character, Lisa Cohen, reaches for a half-full wine glass at her bedside right after she answers the phone. After hearing bad news on the other end of the line, she lights a cigarette. The following words then appear on screen next to her face: 'Lisa Cohen, FBI Special Agent in Charge, Richmond Division'. |

Moving and the Post Office (Dec 06 2003 15:00 GMT) - We are a more mobile society today than ever before, with people moving more often and for reasons that would have given pause years ago. Yet we are also a more connected society, in every sense, communicating with more entities than ever before. Including through the postal service. Yet one problem that this brings about, particularly with regard to mail delivery, has only been getting worse and with no apparent means of correction in sight. This article has a decidely American slant, but only due to lack of familiarity with the postal services of other countries. |
