Illinois fires defensive coordinator (Dec 07 2003 05:03 GMT) - The Associated Press reports that Illinois(1-11 / 0-8) has fired their defensive coordinator, Mike Cassity. Just two seasons into his tenure with Illinois, Mike Cassity has been fired after coaching his squad to the 5th worst rush defense in the nation. Allowing a modest 427 yards per game, Illinois also finished second to last in the Big Ten in total yards allowed. It is also interesting to note that Illinois is 7th in total offense in the Big10. And is 3rd overall (in the Big10) in passing yards per game with 229. |
