On Trial (Dec 07 2003 14:54 GMT) - Back on August 20th, I made a blog entry discussing the death of motorcyclist Randolph Scott, who was killed in a collsion with South Dakota state Representative William Janklow. Janklow's trial is now underway, and yesterday, Janklow was called by his defense lawyer to testify. The defense is centered on an argument that Janklow, who has diabetes, was suffering from severe low blood sugar at the time of the crash, since Janklow claims that he had nothing to eat for 18 hours before the accident. The State Representative did admit on the stand to a penchant for speeding, and also admitted that at he may have run stop signs at full speed on occasion. Sobbing on the stand and repeatedly claiming that he has no recollection of the crash, Janklow said "you can't imagine what this is like. |
