Bigger Monitor Display Isn't Necessarily Better (Dec 07 2003 17:59 GMT) - If mot of what you do is vertically oriented -- scrolling down Web pages, creating Web pages, writing or reading documents, sending and receiving e-mail -- you can't effectively use the side-by-side page ability that a 20-inch monitor affords. Snowfall (Dec 07 2003 17:58 GMT) - According to the Weather Channel, Riverdale got 23in. of snow. We're about 3-4 miles from there. I think we may have gotten a little less, but I haven't ventured out to see for myself, and I'm not planning on it either. The birds are hungry and the area where we usually have seed out is covered with snow. |

British Intelligence (Dec 07 2003 17:56 GMT) - Here's more British intelligence telling us that Saddam Hussein controlled terrible weapons: The devices, which were known by Iraqi officers as "the secret weapon," were made in Iraq and designed to be launched by hand-held rocket-propelled grenades. They could also have been launched sooner than the 45 minutes claimed in the dossier, he said.... The only reason they were not used, Col. al-Dabbagh said, was because the bulk of the Iraqi army did not want to fight for Saddam. |

The "Real Al Sharpton"? (Dec 07 2003 17:56 GMT) - Rev. Al finally made his SNL debut. I saw a few snippets, so really can't comment on his performance. He looked like a typical non-actor hosting the show. However, this is an interesting quote from today's NYT: |

Journalist Bamboozled by Camera Jammer Marketers (Dec 07 2003 17:54 GMT) - Hope You Like Jamming, Too Another "professional" journalist, with legions of fact-checkers and editors unavailable to the unwashed masses, bamboozled by marketers. In this climate, where anything can be photographed or surreptitiously recorded, the desire for privacy, and "security bubbles" of our own, will likely mean that the once-esoteric world of cell-phone jamming will become increasingly mainstream. Uh, no. As I've pointed out before [2003.09. |

Christmas lights (Dec 07 2003 17:54 GMT) - I've come to enjoy the yearly tradition of putting up Christmas lights: balancing on a wobbly ladder, hanging over the side of the roof, and searching for that elusive burned-out mini-bulb. This year we put our lights up in record time, before the sun set on the eve of December 1st. Ah, the holidays. (Not a great photo above. |
