Are you sick to death of the musical pablum factory that is "American Idol"? Have you had enough of creaky sitcoms like "Frasier" and "Friends"? Does the blatant propaganda of "Threat Matrix" give you the chills? |

Al Sharpton on Saturday Night Live last night. (Dec 07 2003 23:28 GMT) - I accidentally caught Al Sharpton on Saturday Night Live last night and it was a horrible experience. Not only was the show as unfunny as getting needles shoved in your eyeballs (why the fuck do good shows like Futurama and Family Guy get cancelled but this turd continues to stink up the airwaves?) but our pal Al keep fumbling his lines like he'd forgotten them and kept having to surreptituously read them from the teleprompter. What a joke. |

NRA Seeks Status as News Outlet (Dec 07 2003 23:28 GMT) - NRA Seeks Status as News Outlet Deciding that laws regulating campaign spending are simply in their way, the National Rifle Association thinks out loud about buying a radio or TV station and then filing a lawsuit so that money limits no longer apply to them. As we all know, federal gun regulations are a near-certainty without this effort. |

I want candy, bubblegum and taffy.... (Dec 07 2003 23:28 GMT) - 'Just Bring 'em In From Space' • An interview with Dave Willis and Matt Maiellaro, co-creators of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and former writers for Space Ghost. "If talking food is a tool, it's one typically seized by a businessman/evangelist desperately grasping for 'funny' — and using the first inoffensive, seemingly comic concept he can find. But Adult Swim mainstay Aqua Teen Hunger Force may be enough to singlehandedly rehabilitate the genre." |

Weak, dishonest science and media sensationalism (Dec 07 2003 23:26 GMT) - Smoking cannabis causes lung damage. This inept Reuters report discusses a study done in England (it's inept because of the extremely vague wording which I find often in Reuter's reports). The study is of individuals who heavy smokers of tobacco or heavy smokers of tobacco and cannabis, and the article includes: "Smoking cannabis on a regular basis actually depletes your lung of protective antioxidant substances...and this may have chronic long-term implications for young individuals," said Dr Sarah Nuttall of the University of Birmingham in central England. |

Australian Imam accused of inciting ... (Dec 07 2003 23:25 GMT) - Australian Imam accused of inciting hatred towards gays Rexhep Idrizi, a leading Imam in Australia's Albanian Muslim community, is accused of inciting his followers to attack homosexuals. Worshippers heard him say that gays should have their head chopped off, and reported the incident. But worshipper Asip Demiri, who was at the service, told the Sunday Herald Sun that Imam Idrizi had verbally attacked homosexuals. "I couldn't believe it. I was sitting there with my son and he comes out with comments as if the Koran says it's OK to attack homosexuals," Mr Demiri said. |
