Rocket Rolls Out in Downtown D.C. (Dec 07 2003 23:09 GMT) - "If there was ever a sign that enterprising rocketeer Elon Musk intends to shake up the commercial space launch industry, it was the sight of a 70-foot long booster slowly moving along Independence Avenue in the heart of the nation's capitol. Toted aboard an open-bed trailer, the rocket came to a stop steps away from the National Air & Space Museum, homage to the relics of a space-age past and a harbinger of an alternative future. Musk is peddling rocket launch services for a fraction of the going rate. 'It's time that we did something about launch costs,' said Musk, who is selling rocket rides for small payloads for a flat million fee." Musk has sold two Internet startups he began for big bucks - including PayPal. |

inappropriately (Dec 07 2003 23:08 GMT) - Here's what irks me the most: Wilson claims that the White House leaked his wife's identity for political reasons. Yet he's using the scandal for similarly ignoble reasons, including book deals. To be sure, the leak is far more serious. But there's something very unsettling about how Wilson criticizes the... |
