Last Shred of Grammy Award Dignity Gone Forever After 2003 Nominations (Dec 08 2003 01:59 GMT) - NewsHax wire -- The Grammys, awards intended to reward musical talent and composing ability, lost any remaining shread of dignity and respect Friday, when the latest nominations were announced. Rather than reward talented artists and musicians for their meaningful, deep music, the Grammy nominations sought to give now meaningless awards to singers who do not write their own music, constantly use profanity in every line of their work, and are musicly shallow. |

Print Article: New net will bypass recreational users (Dec 08 2003 01:57 GMT) - Seems history does repeat its self. Back when I went to a university, it was black and white “apple” and those “odd computers the computer science majors used”. I later learned this was some kind of BSD or Unix. With the power of peer to peer, fat media content, and ever growing research and sharing of info (Remember that?) seems once again the university's want a dedicated WAN: |

Too Much (Dec 08 2003 01:57 GMT) - Looks like some high-stress transactions are coming up for us soon. We'll probably sell two houses, buy one, plus buy a new (used) vehicle. Yikes! Nothing like getting it all over with at once. |

Blacklisted (Dec 08 2003 01:57 GMT) - I think my friend Matt is on the right track in his fight against spam. Matt's using blacklists of known spam-friendly IP addresses to decide who to reject messages from. This makes a lot of sense. Just as a few badly behaving people can ruin a movie theater experience or the driving safety of a freeway, spammers are damaging our largest shared space - the Net. The fact that there's only a few of them is the key to the blacklist approach. |

Mark's Infinite Hotel (Dec 08 2003 01:51 GMT) - Frm Mark Pilgrim's "The infinite hotel"... Imagine a hotel with an infinite number of rooms, numbered 1, 2, 3, and so on forever. All the rooms are full. A man comes in and asks the desk manager whether any rooms are available, and the desk manager replies, "All our rooms are full, but I’d be happy to accommodate you." How does he do it? |

Hip Hop for KuKuKucinich (Dec 08 2003 01:51 GMT) - Well, it ain't hip hop, but there is a definite uproar going on about a KuKuKucinich ad that uses our war dead in a despicable example of just how low the Dems can go. John Cole of Balloon Juice pretty much says it all regarding this unforgivable lapse of morality exhibited by the Kucinich campaign and by association, the Democratic party. If the Dems fail to condemn the lunacy of one of their candidates and allow this type of 'message' to continue, it will be a complete disaster for... |

Israel's Barriers a Major Friction Point (Dec 08 2003 01:50 GMT) - Some 200 Palestinian men crowded behind the hip-high, red barrier at the Israeli checkpoint. When one asked when they would be let through, a young soldier shouted, "Shut up!" Every day, tensions run high at roadblocks that have severely restricted Palestinian movement in the West Bank in more than three years of violence. |
