IBM on a better email client (Dec 09 2003 11:57 GMT) - Slashdot provides this link to IBM's research on a better email client. They cite these themes as major reactions to the current email experience: pressure to respond quickly losing track of email overwhelming volume IBM has prototyped user interface to help deal with those problems. There are some interesting ideas there.The odd thing is that I don't really feel the need for a better email client. |

Bug bug bugging (Dec 09 2003 11:57 GMT) - Yesterday evening I think I figured out the bug that I had been working on since Friday. It's a run the device out of memory and crash thing. Not exactly a memory leak, since this is garbage-collected Java we're talking about, but something was creating way more objects than it should have been. In a low-memory situation, this is death. Last night, just before leaving to have dinner with Brian and David, I think I figured out where all the objects were coming from. |
