Gore endorses Dean (Dec 09 2003 15:59 GMT) - I'm glad to see that Al Gore has officially endoresed Howard Dean, this should add a lot of momentum to his already red-hot campaign. I've gone back and forth on Dean, but what's important right now is getting Bush out... |

Tracking Numbers - The Next State Secret (Dec 09 2003 15:59 GMT) - I ordered a piece of software from MacMall (no link, obviously, since they're here for crappy customer service). I got an e-mail that it had shipped, uncluding the "tracking number", this huge thirty-digit thing that bore no resemblance to a tracking number for any shipper I'd ever used. I cautiously fed it into all the major companies' tracking systems, all of which replied "Sorry, that's the most screwed up looking thing we've ever seen, and it's certainly not a tracking # for one of our shipments" (well, more or less anyway grin) So I decided to give them a call, and asked innocently "do you have the tracking number for that package?" CSR: "No sir. |

Are Trading Overhaul Plans Bad Medicine? (Dec 09 2003 15:59 GMT) - Excerpt: "Vanguard founder Jack Bogle notes that if a trade is delayed by a day, history suggests it will be completed at a higher price about 51 percent of the time, and prices will move down about 49 percent of the time. What the SEC is implying with the rules proposal is that funds are for long-term investors, and big amounts of time diminish the potential impact of having a trade processed on a Tuesday instead of a Monday." You've got to register to vote... (Dec 09 2003 15:56 GMT) - That e-voting conference is Wednesday (not today like I posted the other day). So I'll be going down to Gaithersburg tomorrow. Still not sure if I'll be blogging it from there; not sure what their connectivitiy is. Travelling to any government facility these days is a bit more involved than it used to be. |
