Why 'Average Joe' really was reality (Dec 09 2003 18:15 GMT) - Melana chose pretty Jason over homely Adam. And that decision, dragged out over the six weeks of NBC's reality show ''Average Joe,'' was an affirmation of sorts. Nice guys do finish last, and opposites only rarely attract. |

A Scotsman On A Horse (Dec 09 2003 18:13 GMT) - This month is just been happy, shiny fun all over... just can't wait for 2004 and all this holiday stuff to be done with. After spending half a thou on the car, turns out I'll be spending half of the remaining working days in December at a remote location 100 miles from home. Good thing I got this "reliable car" huh? The job is not bad at all, but the two hour commute sucks rocks... |

The Future of WebSite Ranking (by: Geoff-Florida) (Dec 09 2003 18:13 GMT) - The recent shakeup in Google's search results, which set the SEO (search engine optimization) community buzzing and saw tens of thousands of webmasters watch their site ranking plummet, was in many ways inevitable. Almost all SEO companies and most savvy webmasters had a fairly good handle on what Google considered important. And since SEO, by definition, is the art of manipulating website ra... |

WWTexas Con report 3: PVP, Nodwick and Viper (Dec 09 2003 18:11 GMT) - I mentioned the Marvel booth in my first con report. We at the Shooting Star Comics booth had the good fortune to be located right next to the big Punisher movie exhibit. We thought that was lucky enough. Then the Wizard people set up a new makeshift booth (where there had just been empty space between us and Marvel)...and lo and behold, who should set up in it but Scott Kurtz of PvP himself! |

Airline economics (Dec 09 2003 18:10 GMT) - Going Commercial: Airline Economics: Fasten Your Seat Belt -- good article about airline economics and the fact that as an industry, airlines have been a net money loser over their entire existence. I wonder if this is not typical of any capital-intensive industry, I seem to remember seeing the same analysis of the pulp and paper industry at one point tho I can't lay my finger on it now. I don't think this necessarily means a lot for society, society will still find a way to fund these industries as they have a lot of utility. |
