Battlestar Galactica Review I'm inclined ... (Dec 09 2003 23:45 GMT)

- Battlestar Galactica Review I'm inclined to agree with most of Hesiod's review, well, actually all of it. But I'm still going to watch it. Mostly because I'm just sentimental that way. I will say this. As a remake it is better than the two most recent Star Wars movies.

Convicted Criminal Says His Name Is Copyrighted, Sues Court For Infringement (Dec 09 2003 23:41 GMT)

- Not that this guy has much of a case, but if you want an example of just how screwy copyright law is, take a look at this case. A prison inmate in Missouri who was convicted of mail fraud is trying to sue the judge in his case for copyright infringement - claiming that he owns the copyright on his name. He's demanding $33 million - $500,000 for each time the name is mentioned in court documents. Amusingly, the newspaper article does not name the guy. Perhaps they're afraid of a lawsuit, too?

Pre-Bowl Football Notes (Dec 09 2003 23:41 GMT)

- Pre-Bowl Football Commentary Roundup: [USC Coach Pete] Carroll called it "wrong" that the Notre Dame-Syracuse and Boise State-Hawaii games had some effect on who plays in the national championship game. [Ivan Maisel] It's "wrong" to use the actual on-field performance of USC opponents to estimate how tough the Trojans' schedule actually was? Is Carroll saying strength of schedule shouldn't matter, or does he have a better system than on-field performance for measuring it? This game in the Orange Bowl does nothing for me.
