Being LDS Message Board
|
Who are we? (Dec 10 2003 03:59 GMT) - Having lived outside of Utah, I've also encountered many blank stares at the term "LDS". I've found it to be a great springboard for missionary discussions. A few people have responded that they've never known a Mormon before, although I'm sure they do and just don't realize it. I can see the wisdom ... (continues) |

Priest Charged With Making Obscene Calls (Dec 10 2003 03:58 GMT) - A part-time priest was charged with making obscene phone calls to a 70-year-old Ormond Beach woman. Stanley Staniszewski, 60, who worked as a "helper" priest at several Catholic churches in the Diocese of Orlando, said he was unaware of any charges and that the calls were made as "a joke" and that he was "under the influence of medication." |

Where on Earth is your Web Site? (Dec 10 2003 03:57 GMT) - You've just finished congratulating your marketing team. After six months of concentrated effort you can now actually find your own company web site within the search engines. Everyone is busy handshaking and back patting when a voice from the back of the room rises above the din. "Yeah this is great! Can't wait until we can find ourselves on wireless devices. |

XML Trusted Feeds - They're Not for Everyone (Dec 10 2003 03:57 GMT) - Whether you’re just shopping for search engine optimization services, or are versed in the jargon of the industry, you have probably heard about XML feeds. Perhaps the latest craze in search engine marketing, XML feeds are offered by Search Engine Marketing (SEM) companies that have relationships with the search engines that accept this form of data delivery. These SEM companies offer what is known as a Trusted XML feed. However, you should know that this form of search engine marketing is not for every web site. In fact, only a small percentage are actually qualified and stand to benefit. |

Buzzwords vs Effective SEO Keywords (Dec 10 2003 03:57 GMT) - Ever see a website that seems to speak a foreign language...in English? We encounter many SEO client websites that rely on buzzwords in the page copy to get the word out about their product. The problem lies with visitors who may not be familiar with those terms. This means optimizing with buzzwords may not be the best way to gain traffic. |

MailEdit Questions (Dec 10 2003 03:57 GMT) - I added MailEdit v1.0.1 to my Radio Tools, and was able to post a new blog entry (including a jpg photo) by using Outlook 2003. Has anyone had success using other e-mail clients? For example, I tried to post a new blog entry (attaching the same jpg photo that I used above) using my Hotmail account to send the message. |

googlemania (Dec 10 2003 03:53 GMT) - The Google Search engine has become extremely popular with people who know what they are doing on the internet, as well as people who have no clue. Two amusing articles regarding the use of Google can be found here and here. There is a game you can play called Google Whacking. Simply put, Google whacking is the search for a two word phrase (without quotes) that returns 1 single solitary result. That will waste a good portion of the rest of your day if you have never heard of it. |

SOUNDS ABOUT RIGHT TO ME (Dec 10 2003 03:51 GMT) - President Bush has made this statement about Iraqi debt incurred under Saddam Hussein:The future of the Iraqi people should not be mortgaged to the enormous burden of debt incurred to enrich Saddam Hussein's regime. This debt endangers Iraq's long-term prospects for political health and economic prosperity. The issue of Iraq debt must be resolved in a manner that is fair and that does not unjustly burden a struggling nation at its moment of hope and promise. |

Badass 50 Cent Running Scared From Vivica Fox (Dec 10 2003 03:51 GMT) - The world's most dangerous rapper, 50 Cent, is currently cowering in terror from the "repeated" phone calls of jilted ex Vivica Fox. And the tough-talking bad boy of the hip-hop game has even threatened "legal action" against her. *Sputter* A restraining order?? Going 'Round the Maginot Line (Dec 10 2003 03:50 GMT) - A couple of days ago I wrote a piece comparing our never-ending missile-defense initiative to the Maginot Line. Some further thought on this has led me to wonder whether getting around such a line might not be even easier for a budding Arab Guderian than I originally thought. My idea would require our adversary to have copious amounts of chutzpah, but little else. It's a strategy that's only really suited for an Evil Genius with nerves of steel and balls of brass. The upside for such a person, though, could be substantial. |

Expedia to US Airways: Bugger Off, You (Dec 10 2003 03:50 GMT) - Well, this is peachy... Jen Klyse has discovered that apparently US Airways will no longer be offering tickets through Expedia, mostly due to some strange additional fees that Expedia was slapping on US Airways fares but not those of other carriers. As somebody who has a vested interest in flying US Airways instead of other carriers (I'm going to earn enough frequent flyer miles to go somewhere one of these days, dammit), all I can say is: urgh. |
