Who Knew? (Dec 10 2003 21:59 GMT) - That Cylons would become busty blonde sexpots? Or Starbuck, for that matter, though she's all tough tomboy. Played with that trademark Dirk Benedict swagger, even smoking stogies after a dangerous mission. The things the networks have to do to get kids interested in the classics these days. |

Plagiarism and Cheating Revisited (Dec 10 2003 21:58 GMT) - The author summarizes (accurately): "I have gathered together some old posts [to the WWWDEV mailing list] that I have done in the past and uncovered some additional websites that focus on plagiarism, cheating and copyright violation in academic circles as the end of semesters and term paper grading time is upon the world of education in many places." The result is a very nice listing of links on the subject. By David P. Dillard, WWWDEV, Devember 5, 2003 [Refer][Research][Reflect] |

The Syndication Is The Thing (Dec 10 2003 21:58 GMT) - Greg Ritter pulls together some columns by Doc Searles and gets to the heart of the matter: it's not RSS that's key, it's syndication, "the willingness of something to be known." This is what is the key to the next generation internet; RSS (and metadata in general) are simply the wheels that make syndication happen. Why syndication? |

Bush the Craven To conservatives, ... (Dec 10 2003 21:57 GMT) - Bush the Craven To conservatives, it was a shocking scene. President Bush sat chatting chummily in the Oval Office on Tuesday with the premier of communist China and harshly rebuked the democratically elected leader of the United States' old friend and ally, Taiwan."The only word I can use is 'appalled,' " said John Tkacik, a China specialist at the conservative Heritage Foundation and a staunch administration supporter. "The spectacle of the American president who just gave such an eloquent speech in Whitehall barely three weeks ago, saying the global expansion of democracy is a pillar of American foreign policy

Getting Out Of The Apartment (Dec 10 2003 21:55 GMT) - Tonight, I start something new in my life. I've known for a while that I needed a form of exercise, but couldn't find anything that could keep my attention. Going out walking/running - to me - is just boring as hell. I'd love to play baseball, even poorly, except that almost all mens' leagues are softball only (plus it's pretty seasonal, it's hard to play baseball in a foot of snow). So I decided to take up fencing. |
