Have a Cheeky Christmas (Dec 10 2003 21:41 GMT) - According to Google, these lyrics aren't available elsewhere - including the Cheeky Central. Why do I do it? Because, Gentle Reader, I want you to have the lyrics available to you before anyone else, and before the office Christmas parties begin. I'm always looking out for you, aren't I?... |

In Spring I Look Gay (Dec 10 2003 21:41 GMT) - I know some people will read this story and have a fit of pique. It's for the season and that's the reason to take it tongue in cheek. Bill O'Reilly - America's "Pinhead" (and the AW Ban) (Dec 10 2003 21:40 GMT) - I watched Bill O'Reilly on 'The O'Reilly Factor' lie to his viewers last night over what the Clinton 'Assault Weapons Ban' (AWB) says. Mr. O'Reilly claimed that the public supports the AWB because it 'keeps your neighbors from owning bazookas and machineguns in their homes'. But those type weapons have been illegal for almost 3/4 of a century. And the AWB has nothing to do that that. |

Brazil passes strict new gun law (Dec 10 2003 21:40 GMT) - Brazil's Senate has passed a bill to outlaw the carrying of guns in public and control illegal gun ownership. The law will tighten rules on gun permits and create a national firearms register, with strict penalties for owning an unregistered gun. A referendum will be held in 2005 on whether to ban gun sales outright. About 40,000 people are shot dead each year in Brazil, mainly in urban shanty towns, giving the country one of the worst murder rates in the world. |

California Workplace Shooting: 'Another Victim of Gun Control' Says CCRKBA (Dec 10 2003 21:40 GMT) - Tuesday's workplace shooting in Visalia, California produced 'another victim of gun control,' said officials with the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA). 'California has among the most stringent gun control laws in the nation,' said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb, 'yet those laws did not prevent the Print-Xcel shooting. All those laws have done is effectively disarm law-abiding citizens, leaving them at the mercy of homicidal lunatics.' A gunman, identified as a fired ex-employee of the print plant, shot and killed one employee before taking his own life. Published reports quote plant manager Jeff Trump stating that he 'heard the guy coming' and 'got under my desk and called 911... |

FL: Environment vs. gun control (Dec 10 2003 21:40 GMT) - More than 400 gun ranges across the state could be shielded from state environmental laws under a fast-moving legislative proposal being pushed by House Republicans. A House panel on Tuesday approved the legislation sponsored by Rep. Dennis Baxley, R-Ocala, who along with a representative of the National Rifle Association accused state regulators who work for Gov. Jeb Bush of pursuing 'back door gun control.' The problem is that lead-based ammunition can contaminate the ground and nearby water bodies after it falls to the ground. |

Brady Gun-Control Law Marks 10-Year Anniversary (Dec 10 2003 21:40 GMT) - Veterans of the antigun wars gathered Thursday to mark the recent 10-year anniversary of former President Clinton's signing into law the Brady bill, which requires background checks of prospective gun buyers. We had a huge need: gun deaths were high,' said Sarah Brady, who became a leading gun-control advocate after her husband, then-White House press secretary James Brady, was shot in an assassination attempt on former President Reagan in 1981. 'We had a simple message: Keep guns out of the wrong hands. |
