Live from Baghdad (Dec 10 2003 23:51 GMT) - I've met Robert Wiener (and his mother), but I'd never seen the movie Live from Baghdad until today. It was on HBO and I was bored. Not a bad movie, and Helena Bonham-Carter doesn't look half bad either (though, truthfully, Michael Keaton is a bit better looking). I think the movie would have been far more interesting were I able to remember the events of early 1991 more clearly than I can now, but hey, it beats watching reruns of Trading Spaces. |

www.insideradio.com (Dec 10 2003 23:50 GMT) - Sirius expands to Canada.Call this one "inevitable" -- and Joe Clayton does it in partnership with Canada's CBC/Radio-Canada, which is smart. The fact that the 60 Sirius music channels are commercial-free helps, in this deal with Canada's national public broadcaster. They'll be applying to the CRTC for a license to do satellite radio across Canada, adding Canadian content to the Sirius lineup -- which gives Canadian artists new exposure in the U. |

brigate rossonere & me (Dec 10 2003 23:48 GMT) - Me, yesterday. It's a completely meaningless game for Milan, through to the next round of the Champions League by virtue of victory over Ajax two weeks ago, and half the squad has already travelled to Tokyo for the final of the Intercontinental Cup final against Boca Juniors at the weekend. There's no Maldini, no Nesta, no Rui Costa, no Shevchenko, no Inzaghi. There's only 36,000 people in a stadium that holds 85,000, yet I'm having the time of my life. While three sides of the San Siro feature large blocks of empty seats, the Brigate Rossonere end of the arena is packed, and it's rocking. |

Cheney Hunting Farce (Dec 10 2003 23:48 GMT) - Humane Society Statement Monday's hunting trip to Pennsylvania by Vice President Dick Cheney in which he reportedly shot more than 70 stocked pheasants and an unknown number of mallard ducks at an exclusive private club places a spotlight on an increasingly popular and deplorable form of hunting, in which birds are pen-reared and released to be shot in large numbers by patrons. This sounds a lot like Ceausescu's infamous bear "hunts." |

only the germans (Dec 10 2003 23:46 GMT) - "If I survive until the morning, let's have my testicles for breakfast" no matter how bad things are, things could always be worse, right? for example, you could be a deranged deutschlander interested in eating his own penis before willfully... |

Go Ahead -- Ask (Dec 10 2003 23:46 GMT) - Go Ahead -- AskIf there's someone you want to call, a girl you want to date, a guy you want to hear on your phone, a party you don't want to miss, but feel a little shy, but know the perfect pal to drag along with you for courage -- go ahead, ask. You're already hearing "NO" by not asking. Give yourself the chance to hear "YES" and chalk it up to experience if you get turned down. What the heck, at least you tried. Have a fun evening. |

Blogger News Item (Dec 10 2003 23:46 GMT) - Asleep At The Wheel As long as I'm bashing the legal profession, here's one for all you judges out there from today's New York Law Journal: A man convicted of killing an undercover police officer should not receive a new trial, even if a judge was asleep at times while the jury was selected, a New York appeals court ruled Tuesday. In a unanimous opinion, the New York Appellate Division, 1st Department, said that since David Degondea and his attorney failed to object to the judge's alleged behavior at the time, they could not use it to attack the jury's verdict years later. <true story>I kid you not, when I first started practicing law, I had a one day trial up in the Bronx. |
