The Onion (Dec 11 2003 04:42 GMT) - The Onion bills itself as "America's Finest News Source". Sometimes I like the Onion and sometimes I really despise it. Most of the time the stories aren't very funny, but there have been a few gems over time. I think the strain of trying to be funny everyday and making up a large number of fake news stories is too much. Perhaps the suffer from the "Saturday Night Live" syndrome where a single laugh joke that should be done in a couple of seconds, it at all, is dragged on for minutes at a time, completely beating the horse to a bloody pulp. |

Weapons of Mass Distraction (Dec 11 2003 04:42 GMT) - The question is: When, at a strategic point in his re-election campaign, Bush trots out WMD, are the real or plants? Luckily, my friend Chris, who was firmly behind the war, has provided the answer: If we do a "China-style" WMD parade, you can rest assured that they're ones that we found on Day 3 of the campaign. If we just say we have them, and produce some pictures and stuff, they're plants. |

The emergency internment laws introduced in the wake of the attacks on the United States on 11 September 2001 were also criticised as a "perversion of justice."
