Jellybath (Dec 11 2003 10:26 GMT) - 'JellyBath is a truly unique spa experience. One box will turn your bath water into luxurious encasing comfort. Add JellyBath to warm water and it becomes a translucent, fluffy jelly which will retain its heat up to 4 times longer than water. It's a virtual bath blanket!' Don't anyone say that they wouldn't like to try that. |

Dog Save Our Mumble Mumble Mumble... (Dec 11 2003 10:26 GMT) - David Blunkett, the British Home Secretary, wants to make aspiring British citizens sing the national anthem in special ceremonies. Ignoring for a second the laughably american-style idea of that, I wonder if he realises just how few Brits themselves know the words to the 'National Anthem'? I sure don't, and I'm a Brit. I can, however, drunkenly sing a word-perfect rendition of this version. Much more fun, and a must-learn for every 'aspiring' British citizen. |

Full-Circle 360° Camera Lens (Dec 11 2003 10:26 GMT) - "Until now, taking a 360° panorama with a normal lens has required taking multiple shots while rotating the camera slowly and then combining ("stitching") those shots together to form the panorama. In contrast, the 360° full-circle lens allows the full 360° surroundings of the camera to be imaged at the same time with a single lens. Sony has now developed a camera module that uses this 360° full-circle lens..." I feel weak. Really. |

11 December - Teddy Bear Day [Izabella 'Cosmo' Chaves] (Dec 11 2003 10:22 GMT) - The Teddy Bear is now so much part of our lives that it's hard to believe he was only invented in 1902, and is named after Theodore 'Teddy' Roosevelt, the famous hunting President of the USA. For years, the claim to have made the first Teddy Bear has been disputed between America and Germany - and in some ways, both countries made the first Teddy! The story begins in Germany, in late October 1902, where Richard Steiff, a toy designer working for the family firm in Giengen, went to a touring American circus in search of an idea for a popular new toy. Among the animals he saw there was a troupe of performing bears, and they sparked off the original idea. The following day, he put his thoughts down on paper for Margarete Steiff, his aunt, who had founded the firm in 1880. |
