Words from a Tablet fan (Dec 11 2003 14:53 GMT) - "After some previous posts and a story about the Tablet PC, I received some messages from faithful Tablet PC users suggesting that the Tablet wasn't getting the credit they feel it's due. I asked one of those users, Steve Martin (no, not that Steve Martin), from the Salt Lake City area, to explain how he uses his Tablet and what he thinks about it. He responded yesterday: I work as a network administrator for a company that handles the IT needs of hundreds of small and medium sized businesses. ... |

TeleRead: Bring the E-Books Home

Pooling e-resources (Dec 11 2003 14:51 GMT) - Pretty clueful, those librarians in New Zealand. They have a national consortium to negotiate with databases. Joint dealings with e-book publishers next? And then a National Digital Library Fund? That would truly be TeleRead territory, of course. |

Episode 3 (Dec 11 2003 14:51 GMT) - Okay, Episodes 1 and 2 sucked bad. By the swirling rumors about Episode 3, I can't see how it could be any worse and it sounds a far sight better. I wasn't sure how George Lucas was going to pull off the transition from Episode 2 to Episode 4, but this conjecture seems reasonable enough. I'm actually excited to see Episode 3, replacing the resigned indifference I had previously felt.Best comment from the Slashdot discussion: |

Dublin: Day Four (Dec 11 2003 14:50 GMT) - I went to my first traditional Irish pub this evening, and it wasn't a tourist trap. Cobblestone is a cramped, smokey little hole in the wall with free-flowing Guiness (I had Coke, I swear), mislabelled bathrooms, and good company. We had a really good time, me apologizing for the bad reruns we stick them with and McDonalds, and I made one of them apologize for reality TV (even though it's really a British thing and not Irish - but they're neighbors). I learned about the Irish gorvernment, a little more about the culture, and had a lot of fun. I'm feeling a little better today, although I bet the smoke won't make me feel any better tomorrow. |
