(Dec 11 2003 14:39 GMT) - Copyright body may slap levy on digital music playersToronto Star, Canada - That 20-gigabyte MP3 player going under the Christmas tree this season could soon cost 20 per cent more if the Copyright Board approves a proposed levy tomorrow on the sale of digital music devices. the hammer of the travel gods (Dec 11 2003 14:38 GMT) - so i'm trying to get from the conference at the georgetown university conference center to reagan national airport . i've given myself a more than adequate window of time to go the relatively short distance, factoring in traffic, airport security and getting lost. yes, that's right, whenever i'm in d.c. or the surrounding area, i've found that i need to allocate an extra amount of time to account for my getting horribly lost, since it's been my experience that it's a terribly easy thing to... |

Comics Consumed (Dec 11 2003 14:37 GMT) - Spacehack is a 3 issue series from Kenzer & Co.. Last night I read issues 1 and 2, they only ones I have. I've probably had them for about a year now and just have never got around to reading them. I really like all the K&C books, I'm not a huger super hero fan. This is a really funny series and any fan of scifi will see elements of all sorts of different space shows and books in these. |

Arrogance Reinfects Industry (Dec 11 2003 14:37 GMT) - Joseph Jaffe is detecting a gradual, but pervasive, return of the fin de siecle arrogance witnessed just before the last great online bubble popping. Which isn't entirely a bad thing, as he points out it can also lead to confidence, passion and even the willingess to risk some innovation. But at the same time, Jaffe says that he's not seeing the same sort of big idea creativity once present in the industry. iMedia reports. [summary] |

A practical theology of communication (Dec 11 2003 14:37 GMT) - (As the nonprofit I work for has been formulating its strategic plan, I've been reflecting on what role communications should play a part. Here I make the case that "the Centers" communication strategy be auxiliary to our now-forming strategic plan.) Im reminded of the work of philosopher-theologian Henry Nelson Wieman, who describes six types of communication. His descriptions might be useful in helping us discern what we mean when we say that we wish to focus more on the Centers communication. Deceptive communications. |
