Movies with Exclamation Points!!! (Dec 11 2003 18:58 GMT) - Even though Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! (see the trailer) looks silly, it has Kate Bosworth and Topher Grace, for that alone Gothamist will be first in line. A Connecticut native, Grace, as most know, is not only funny on That 70s Show but on talk shows, especially the Daily Show and Late Night with Conan O'Brien, where he discussed debating whether or not to bring a date to a wedding (his friend told him, "Why bring sand to the beach?" We wonder if that was Kutcher or Valderrama or Masterson). Bosworth, on the other hand, won our heart after Blue Crush, maybe only second to Bring it On in terms of recent sports movie greatness. |

Everything's cool (Dec 11 2003 18:57 GMT) - And what taxpayers would those be?At a Cabinet meeting Thursday, Bush defended the decision, saying American taxpayers want the contracts restricted to those countries that "risked lives.""The taxpayers understand why it makes sense for countries that risked lives to participate in the contracts in Iraq. It is very simple," Bush told reporters."Our people risked their lives, a friendly coalition risked their lives and therefore the contracting is going to reflect that. |

On this day, December 20th (Dec 11 2003 18:56 GMT) - Today is believed to be the birthday of the woman who inspired William Butler Yeats to write many of his poems and plays, Maud Gonne, born in Aldershot, England (1865). She was the daughter of an Irish army officer, and she became an Irish nationalist and revolutionary who helped stir up opposition to British rule in Ireland. She was one of the most beautiful women of her time, and Yeats fell in love with her the first time he saw her. |
