Asda: pet plan shows promise (Dec 11 2003 18:24 GMT) - Asda's re-launched pet insurance product means that its insurance offerings now equal those of its main rivals. Although motor insurance has been the key area of insurance growth for retailers, pet insurance offers real opportunities, particularly given the success of Tesco [TSCO.L] in this market. |

Re: photo not there (Dec 11 2003 18:23 GMT) - I guess Snowbush must be too big. Its filesize is 1.1MB, while the Glass Bricks filesize is 984KB. I tried what Rhye said, but it didn't work and when I looked at the events Log it said that there was an error either because the file was either not a legal type or it was too large. So, I guess the limit must be 1. |

Messed up ocean (Dec 11 2003 18:22 GMT) - Can't get this entry right for story (wrong pop-up titles and tooltips), but the ocean near San Francisco is wild today after last night's storm. Reverberates in the caves—The ocean fills the cove even at low tide as foam clings to the rocks 20 feet above, Montara, CA, Wednesday, December 10, 2003, 8:10am, #20.39. |

Wrong Number (Dec 11 2003 18:21 GMT) - From this article on the Bush administration's decision to rule out opponents of the Iraq war from bidding on reconstruction contracts. French President Jacques Chirac (search), German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder (search) and Russian President Vladimir Putin (search) all raised the contracting issue during previously scheduled telephone calls with President Bush (search) on Wednesday. I would love to be the whitehouse switchboard operator when they call to complain about this. "Oh, I'm sorry, you have the wrong number. You must be looking for your ex business partner Saddam Hussein. |

ChoicePC gathers support for LindowsOS resellers (Dec 11 2003 18:20 GMT) - [Meerkat: An Open Wire Service] - LindowsOS has opened a new Web site, called ChoicePC, to elicit support for its resellers, who are under attack by Microsoft. Originally, that support was for resellers in the Netherlands, but Microsoft has launched similar legal blitzkriegs in Sweden and France, and ChoicePC has responded by adding support for resellers in those countries as well. |

Deportivo 2, PSV 3 (Dec 11 2003 18:19 GMT) - PSV needed 2-0 or a three goal difference win, and didn't get it. It was 2-0 for quite a while after goals by De Jong and Robben, but once Deportivo scored the match was virtually over. A last-second goal by De Jong for PSV at least netted PSV more money, but the team is - again - not advancing to the second round of the Champions League. PSV will - sadly as only Dutch team - continue to play European games though, through the UEFA Cup, which Feyenoord won as recently as 2001. Kezman hasn't scored in a gazillion European matches now, despite his average of more than 1 goal a game in the Dutch competition. |

New Studies Claim Ritalin Used For ADHD Causes Permanent Brain Alterations (Dec 11 2003 18:18 GMT) - Story at SciScoop on three new studies conducted in animals, published in the December issue of the journal Biological Psychiatry which "provide evidence that misuse of the stimulant methylphenidate (Ritalin) may have long-term effects on the brain and behavior. While methylphenidate and other stimulant medications are the recommended treatments for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), based on the more than 150 controlled studies demonstrating their safety and efficacy when used as prescribed, these three studies showed changes in the brains of young (adolescent or pre-adolescent) animals that persisted into adulthood." |
