Loading XML-RPC functions on demand (Dec 11 2003 19:50 GMT) - I finally took some time and started looking at XML-RPC more seriously. I'm using the Incutio XML-RPC library by Simon Willison. It appears to do a pretty good job of keeping things simple while still being very functional. It supports both client and server. So now I'm looking at moving a lot of functionality to xml-rpc for a project at work. |

The Battle For The Commons (Dec 11 2003 19:49 GMT) - I have come to believe that new understandings of cooperation and collective action are emerging in a dozen different fields, with implications far beyond the "technologies of cooperation" that enable smart mobs. I am embarking on a project with The Institute for the Future to map and catalyze a broad interdisciplinary study of cooperation and collective action. This PDF (a preprint from IFTF's latest Ten Year Forecast) highlights some of the issues near and dear to smartmobbers, but also looks beyond the horizons of the work I did in Smart Mobs to sketch out the broader landscape we are beginning to explore. This is an ambitious project and we are looking for foundation or angel funding or corporate funding. If you are an angel or a foundation or a corporation who understands what we are getting at, contact me for a more detailed proposal. |

Scripting languages on .NET (Dec 11 2003 19:49 GMT) - Miguel Icaza talks about scripting support (Python, in this case) on .NET. The question isn't scripting languages; it's dynamic languages, and certain specific things: DNU (doesNotUnderstand) - very, very useful for Proxying #perform type behavior changing classes and/or other objects at runtime (#become: |
