DirecTV Helps TiVo (Dec 11 2003 21:59 GMT) - DirecTV helps TiVo... but not TiVo users. While CNET reports that TiVo's partnership with DirecTV has driven subs up to the 1 million mark, my poor DirecTiVo satellite/DVR combo is orphaned sans the Home Media Option and any of the cool new software features (e.g. folders)--and, indeed, any software updates to speak of--appearing on the standalone Tivo boxes. |

Is That Your Finger in Your Ear, or... (Dec 11 2003 21:59 GMT) - I've long remembered something about a wrist-phone with mic hidden in the wristband and thumb as earphone, allowing you to talk on the phone simply by making the international sign for "I'll call you." Unfortunately I never blogged it and soon lost track of the link. ... |

LazyWeb Request: Change Tracking a la Word for Any Text (Dec 11 2003 21:59 GMT) - Probably the single best feature (yes, there is a good feature) in Word is change-tracking, the ability to see what's been added, deleted, and altered since I last saw the document or since the document began. I can choose to hide the changes or have them exposed in all their g[l]ory detail. ... I'd love an app (preferably for my Mac) that'll do the same for any arbitrary text file. Bicycles out of Shanghai (Dec 11 2003 21:59 GMT) - China, arguably the world's most bicycle-happy country, is changing. Shanghai is a city full of bicycles, bike lanes, and even bicycle parking lots. The increased presence and popularity of cars means that, for car drivers, swarms of bicycles in the streets are now an obstacle rather than a part of the scenery. According to news reports, Shanghai officials are now banning bicycles from major streets, and making fines ten times larger as an added deterrent. It seems unlikely that China, with its massive population, will be able to support American-style car culture, but some Chinese seem to be aiming for it nonetheless. |

There is nothing on my profile that would suggest I would be interested! Good afternoon Chris, I am just browsing profiles looking for anyone who might be interested in my new product. Generally for incurable romantics and those who need relaxation, with their own homes.
