Re: How do I setup multiple authors ? (Dec 11 2003 23:38 GMT) - There is nothing inherent to Radio Userland that allows this; to my knowledge. However, there is something called Groove which is free for personal use. It has to be running on the PC that hosts Radio Userland and both have to be up all the time to post messages. http: |

Leica Digilux 2 - the bigger picture (Dec 11 2003 23:35 GMT) - Many of you asked for it and thanks to Leica UK for supplying very high resolution images of the new five megapixel Digilux 2. This camera may well have a Panasonic heart but it's instantly recognisable as a Leica and features a very interesting F2.0 - F2.4 lens. The brand certainly carries a lot of weight and this camera appears to be one of the more interesting new releases of recent months. |

Serious implications for eyewitness testimony (Dec 11 2003 23:34 GMT) - The legal and psychiatric profession often clashes over the reliability of eye-witness testimony, children testifying, and similar events. While the legal community understands, that perceptions are, well, subjective, it argues that a properly conducted examination will eventually yield something resembling an accurate (as much as this is possible) statement. Not so, says Elizabeth Lofthus, who'll have you come in a normal person, and leave with a newly created childhood trauma - at age 45. The Guardian has the story. |

Visualizing the Shrinking World (Dec 11 2003 23:33 GMT) - A corollary of the statement "Time is Money" is that things that cause time to be consumed are money as well - distance is related to time through velocity and information is related to time in the same way through bandwidth. Velocity is a crucial factor in determining the cost of exchanging physical goods and bandwidth is similarly crucial in determining in the cost of exchanging information. In both cases speed costs. The changing relationships between time, distance, information, and money are at the heart of today's globalization trends. The cost of a 3-minute transatlantic phone call is an interesting metric since it fixes distance and the amount of information. |
