Tag Heuer Monaco Sixty Nine (Dec 12 2003 00:45 GMT) - This year, with the introduction of the new Monaco Sixty Nine, TAG Heuer has created a concept watch that features two key surprises. The first originality lies in the fact that, contrary to the customary chronograph model, this Monaco comes in a "straightforward" watch version. The other innovation relates to the extraordinary technical feat that made it possible to integrate the classic Monaco dial and a digital chronograph dial within the same case! TAG Heuer has devised a concept watch featuring the amazing paradox of housing two generations of mechanism corresponding to entirely separate technologies. A mechanical hand-wound movement faithful to the vintage model is associated with an ultra-modern quartz movement. |

What that means to us is that all access to wwpp.org, our Manila sites (Internal and External), Our Radio Sites (published and external), and our Streaming server, will be spotty at best and perhaps, nonexistent at times. I haven't LJed in a while, so I guess I should. (Dec 12 2003 00:42 GMT) - First off, to anyone who updates via a client rather than visit the LJ website, you may want to have a look at the main page. Invite codes are being scraped, which is reasonable enough news in itself for some. The best part though is that unused codes will be worth credit on paid accounts, which is rather excellent considering I've still got ten of the buggers left. Anyway, just spreading the word.Finished university for christmas. |

CBS Propaganda (Again and again... and again...) (Dec 12 2003 00:42 GMT) - CBS Evening News reported on the US's rejection of anti-coalition countries as possible prime contractors in Iraqi reconstruction. TECH TALK: My Mental Model: …requires Ecosystems…(Part 2) (Dec 12 2003 00:40 GMT) - Debraj Ray writes in his book “Development Economics” on co-ordination failure: Pervasive complementarities (the fact that a single individual takes some action increases the incentives for others to take the same or similar action) might lead to a situation where an economy is stuck in a “low-level equilibrium trap”, while at the same time there is another, better equilibrium, if only all agents could appropriately co-ordinate their actions to reach it…According to this view, economic underdevelopment is the outcome of a massive co-ordination failure, in which several investments do not occur simply because other complementary investments are not made, and these latter investments are not forthcoming simply because the former are missing! Adds Chakravorti: “Getting an innovation to market requires two thresholds that the innovation must cross on its path to impact. The first occurs at the status quo, the situation that the innovation is attempting to improve; |
