- چندی پيش زهرا شجاعی مشاور رئيس جمهور و رئيس مرکز امور مشارکت زنان با اعلام اينکه حتی در صورت ازدواج همه پسران با همه دختران باز هم يک ميليون و ۷۰۰ هزار دختر بیشوهر می مانند، درخصوص بحران دختران ازدواج نکرده هشدار داده بود. کارشناسان بروز اين پديده را با جنگ هشت ساله ايران و عراق که حدود يک ميليون جوان در آن کشته شدند مرتبط می دانند. جنگ ايران و عراق علاوه بر تعداد کثير کشته شدگان، موجی از مهاجرت جوانان، به ويژه پسران جوان را نيز به همراه داشت که به تغيير وضعيت جمعيتی پسران کمک کرد. اين بحران در کنار مشکلات اقتصادی باعث شده تا سن ازدواج نيز در ايران افزايش يابد به طوری که متوسط سن ازدواج دختران هم اکنون 25 سال و پسران 30 سال است. |

- Don't know how I missed the original story about the ram with a distaste for Jehovah's Witnesses, but a search on the topic did turn up a commentary on the story with some suggestions for turning away the hoards of Holy Johs, Mormons, and other evangelists, such as mobile phone salespeople that will be beating a path to your door this holiday season armed with the firm belief that the only way to secure their own place in heaven is to try to flog you a ticket for the journey as well. Some folk opt for the smart-arse defence and attempt a spirited assertion of some of the more glaring contradictions in the Testaments. This is a no-win tactic, however, since people convinced of their own salvation are, by definition, blind to the inconsistencies of faith. Simply slamming the door shut is undignified. My mother, many years ago, used to thrust a poker through the letter-slot and demand the religionists decamp. |

- Well, that's probably too much credit. But Jennifer K. Ringley's JenniCam was one of the early if not earliest 24 hour webcams documenting someone's life. It wasn't too awfully inhibited. Jenni brought the webcam into the bathroom and bedroom with her, and although you wouldn't have confused it with VoyeurDorm it wasn't G rated either. |
