Intellectual Creation (Dec 12 2003 05:23 GMT) - Pieces of software are intellectual creations. The fact that they are expressed in text (the source code) doesn’t make them physical, they still consist of concepts, of metaphysical entities that relate to each other and interact together in a play. When you read for instance a novel, it evokes something in your mind. When you write a novel, you record something in your mind, with the intention of evoking it in the minds of everyone who will read it. |

Understanding and Improving the Design of your Visual Studio .NET Application (Dec 12 2003 05:21 GMT) - Design is an important yet often overlooked aspect of software development. This session demonstrates how to use a new modeling solution tightly integrated in Visual Studio .NET to design your software application. |

On hyperlinks... (Dec 12 2003 05:21 GMT) - So, I was reviewing my journal recently and I noticed old posts and old links from years ago, many which no longer work...There's the part of me that wants to go back, annotate several of the posts, and do the hard -- sometimes impossible -- task of repairing the links. And then there is the part of me who looks at it all and wonders whether doing so is, in some sense, a disservice to today, if not to back then.Journals are ephemera, and some links are perhaps best left broken. |

NEI chose to implement Microsoft Business Solutions for Manufacturing - Great Plains integrated with Agile and Datasweep. |

Innovative Solution For Global Tank Lessor EXSIF Worldwide (Dec 12 2003 05:20 GMT) - When EXSIF Worldwide was sold by their former owner, they were required to set up their own, in-house independent financial and accounting function. The PeopleSoft solution used by their former owner was simply too costly. Their search for a solution resulted in Microsoft Business Solutions - Great Plains rising to the top. EXSIF likes the low cost of ownership compared with PeopleSoft, the drill-down capabilities, and the results they get from the Collections Management functionality. Microsoft Great Plains has sustained them through significant growth over the past two years, without the need to add staff. |
