Helpline Comment (24724) (Dec 12 2003 13:23 GMT) - Anthony Wells RE: Ebay Thats the risk you take when you purchase things off ebay. Remember that most sellers are private and not done through companies so don't expect these individuals to offer warranty or money back guarantees. The real questions you should be asking everytime you use ebay are 1. How much are you willing to pay for it? |

Christmas Time again (Dec 12 2003 13:22 GMT) - Well, Thanksgiving is over, so that means it's time for Christmas. As usual, Laura has completed almost all the Christmas shopping already She's good at staying way ahead of that. Guess that comes from working in a mall for a year or two. We spent the weekend cleaning up the house, rearranging the living room, and of course putting up the Christmas tree. I'll snap some pictures and try to get them on tonight, along with some new ones of Rhianna. |

Images, History, Language (Dec 12 2003 13:22 GMT) - In this city of Philly it seems appropriate to quote the playwrite Brian Friel."It is not the literal past, the 'facts' of history, that shape us, but images of the past embodied in language."A suitable Wittgenstein-ish sentiment for an XML conference where the struggle is (as ever) primarily with language and context in the ongoing battle for self-describing information.I have long harbored the belief that in document-centric XML there is a time lag between content origination and its ex-post-facto 'obvious' structure. We look at the facts of our historical creation (the content) through the medium of language, dressed up in angle brackets. |
