McDonald's Ad Campaign: "Most Irritating Phenomenon in Physics", says MIT (Dec 12 2003 19:55 GMT) - Researchers at MIT have discovered that the latest ad campaign for fast food giant McDonald's is the scientifically universe's most annoying and vexing phenomenon, beating out former contenders such as Tom Arnold and the fat, noisy man who always sits next to you in the plane, according to this month's publication of "Interesting Scientific Things Monthly". The ad campaign, which features the slogan "i'm lovin' it", consists of a series of spots designed to reinvigorate the McDonald's brand name through trendy-sounding urban beats and a voiceover chanting different things that are enjoyable about the restaurant, or perhaps a predicament involving somehow obtaining more McDonald's food. Due to decreased earnings forecasts and the recent declaration of a loss for the first time in decades, McDonald's has invested heavily into the campaign. But Marian Torrence, lead researcher, warns that unless McDonald's intended to make the ads "as annoying as humanly possible", they should consider them a failure. "I do not see how the most infuriating event ever conceived in the known universe will help McDonald's with their sales," she said. |
