Brilliant! (Dec 12 2003 23:51 GMT) - I can't particularly remember anything I've done since my exciting weekend of non excitement besides moving 2.5 tons of rice, cooking a gigantic 12-bean stew, drinking dry hop orange beer while wolfing down a burrito, and listening to The Cockblockers... |

I discovered a program called Books2burn, which uses OS X's built-in speech synthesis technologies, to convert text files into audio files! Now that you have the program, you'll need some books. Project Gutenberg was founded in 1971, with the mission to "provide Public Domain Etext editions a short time after they enter the Public Domain." 33 years later, Project Gutenberg has over 10,000 books online for your enjoyment. |

my Book Review of The Pythons (Dec 12 2003 23:49 GMT) - Following my Book Review of The Pythons, we have DAVID KELLY’s NY Times review of the book, which pulls some very good quotes. One thing he does not get into, which I didn’t cover either, as it occurs at the very end, which I hadn’t read yet when I filed my report, is the Python reunion that wasn’t. Eric, at the time of the interview, was still pissed. |

1989’s Parrot Sketch Not Included (Dec 12 2003 23:49 GMT) - After 1983’s The Meaning of Life, the team scattered to work on their individual projects, reassembling briefly for 1989’s Parrot Sketch Not Included special. They had to prop up the dying Graham. This was to be their last bit together, and it is pretty funny. |

Aspin Comedy Festival in 1997 (Dec 12 2003 23:49 GMT) - The surviving five were gathered together before HBO’s cameras for an interview at the Aspin Comedy Festival in 1997, had a splendid time, and afterwards discussed maybe working together again. Live review, or film? Cleese thought going on tour for the 30th anniversary might be fun, while some of the others thought a sequel to Holy Grail could be funny. According to the book, Eric spent a lot of time trying to arrange the tour, and it turned out the others were not as keen on doing it as they had let on at the time, only they were too polite to mention it to him until he had done quite a lot of work. |

the stage show by himself (Dec 12 2003 23:49 GMT) - Eric ended up doing the stage show by himself. I saw it on it’s Cleveland stop, and while I got to go on stage, my friend ended up being the Looney spotted, and got to go backstage and have his liver removed in the live organ transplant. Bastard! |

Python night (Dec 12 2003 23:49 GMT) - When Python night was put together for the BBC’s celebration of the 30th anniversary, Eric was still pissed, and wouldn’t participate, although he eventually contributed a short sketch, and appeared at the end via satalite. He had bad things to say about the quality of the program. |

reviews (Dec 12 2003 23:49 GMT) - And for those interested in more lightweight reading, And Edmund S. Morgan reviews the shit out of Vidal’s Inventing a Nation, including a two paragraph summary of the things Vidal believes and returns to frequently, but which have failed to enter the conventional wisdom. Morgan calls this behavior of Gore’s "Crying Wolf." I cut and paste this below, but recommend both the article and the book: |
