Debian-Installer Progress Ruthless (Dec 13 2003 15:51 GMT) - "Ports or no ports, d-i will eventually release, and the release plans for beta 2 are to have it out before New Years." Joey Hess has posted a new Debian-Installer status report. He points out that the installation reports from the new installer have been particularly helpful in identifying some of the problems in d-i, and that the localisation of the installer is progressing rather well. Unfortunately progress with ports is not so good, at this moment in time, progress is only being made on ia64, powerpc, mips and hppa. He is hoping that small teams made up of d-i developers and those who "grok" the architecture might make more progress, if such teams can be established. |

Goodwill to all men (Dec 13 2003 15:49 GMT) - United States: A flyer sent out to thousands of potential customers by a Texan party supplies store contained an unfortunate error: An ad for Party City was supposed to highlight a sale on Hanukkah items, but it also contained a hateful anti-Semitic message. The advertisement includes the sentence CC Hates the Jews in large, bold letters. 'CC' is apparently the initials of an employee at a design company who changed the text when the layout artist was otherwise engaged. |
