Churchill and Richard Perle (Dec 13 2003 23:43 GMT) - If anything, President Bush underplayed the connections to Al Qaeda. The only word for it is puerile -- and pro-shoplifting. We should invade Bin Laden's country, kill him and convert him to Judaism. The pro-elite bias in the media is... |

Danny Glover is fooling nobody (Dec 13 2003 23:42 GMT) - In politics, the Democratic Party is the wretched home of the dishonest and those Jazzercized members of the hypocritical Left who have a lust for power. Instead of constructing arguments based on logic, the whiners assume that whatever they want... |

Which Federation Starship Are You? (Dec 13 2003 23:42 GMT) - There are lots of these "what kind are you" types of things out there. Yesterday I found out which crazy king I was; now, it's starships. You are a Sovereign-class Explorer, Starfleet'sbiggest, badest, playboy posterchild. Youexceed everyone's expectations in everydepartment. |

The Cable Guy: Windows Peer-to-Peer Networking (Dec 13 2003 23:41 GMT) - I missed noticing the November The Cable Guy issue at Technet... Last month's article was about the Peer-to-Peer networking infrastructure released with the Advanced Networking Pack and the technology that is used in Longhorn. The key advantage of this networking technology is the fact that it can work over a NAT firewall device as it is IPV6 based. This may help end many of the problems that we see in the newsgroups on teaching people how to properly configure their firewalls or SOHO routers to allow their “server” programs to work (for example, Remote Desktop, Remote Assistance, PC Anywhere, VPN, VNC, etc). This was supposed to be the nirvana promised by the introduction of UPnP, but router and firewall manufacturers have stymied this by having incompatible or non-working UPnP support or solutions. |

How to win friends and influence people (Dec 13 2003 23:39 GMT) - Darl McBride, the CEO of SCO, recently managed to turn his company into one of the most disliked in the high-tech world by saying to Linux users, in essence, "You've infringed our copyright. We're not going to show you how, but you have to pay us anyway". This would be completely idiotic if it weren't the last struggles of a dying company sufficiently desperate to try anything. And the really tragic thing is what has happened to the SCO share price as a result of this tactic: Perhaps realising that public relations disasters can still be be profitable, and that corporate image and customer satisfaction are much harder work than having a dodgy patent infringement claim, he has gone on in this open letter to spread evil rumours about how free software is anti-American: |
