B.Y.O. Bias to the Virtual ... (Dec 13 2003 23:18 GMT) - B.Y.O. Bias to the Virtual Party It's axiomatic that insights arrive in bunches, like lights going on in several windows at once. I felt so clever declaring yesterday that Dean's best shot at winning the Presidency is to officially form the Great Centrist Party, the GCP, an act of chutzpah which no longer requires the irritant of owning assets to give voice to your constituents. |

Changing scholarly communication (Dec 13 2003 23:15 GMT) - Abby Smith, Changing Scholarly Communication, CLIR Issues, November/December 2003. Excerpt: "Creating fundamental change in the processes of research and dissemination --change that can be sustained over time and across institutional boundaries-- requires developing a cadre of leaders in various disciplines who are willing to explore new models of scholarship, to encourage and support those with whom they collaborate, and to mentor those who aspire to continue this work. It is this vision that informs the Scholarly Communication Institute (SCI), which held its first session this summer at Dartmouth College." |
