Reprieved (Dec 14 2003 03:59 GMT) - But still under sentence of death. That is why I have such mixed feelings about the apparent breakdown of talks to finalise an EU Constitution: European leaders are playing down the scale of divisions at their Brussels summit that made it impossible for them to agree on a constitution for the EU. The can play it up, down or any way they damn well please. This is not the end, merely a brief setback. |

Winter solstice ritual (Dec 14 2003 03:58 GMT) - I went to the winter solstice ritual at church tonight. It was pleasant, but not nearly as good as it's been in other years. It was extremely low-key, and there were less than two dozen people there, including children (audiences in other years have numbered 50-100). It felt like the organizers put it together rather hastily, without expending very much effort. I enjoyed it, but my expectations were higher, so I was kind of disappointed. |

Idiot Ex-Zionist Daniel Gavron wishes ... (Dec 14 2003 03:56 GMT) - Idiot Ex-Zionist Daniel Gavron wishes to "dissolve the Jewish state and establish, in its place, a single Israeli-Palestinian state. " On the other hand, having to take an armored bus to and from your home every day because you live in a Jewish enclave in the middle of the Gaza Strip is also quite inane. |
