Item level title and link (Dec 15 2003 06:57 GMT) - I've enabled item level title and links for this weblog. What that means is, that when you click on the title of each post, you will be taken either to the title link (which was already enabled) or to a perma-link for the post (which was not previously enabled). Doing this lets me, or anybody else who wants to, link to a specific post and then e-mail the post or link to it without having to run through the whole weblog. |

This is well known and can be seen from the stated size of each page in the SERPs and from the cut-off point in the cache copy. What I find interesting is that GG uses the word "sometimes"...hmmmmmm. |

Upcoming Recordings - 12/16 - 12/20 (Dec 15 2003 06:56 GMT) - The 76th Academy Awards are being held at the end of February. Sometimes I’m good about seeing the short films that are nominated and sometimes I’m not. Actually, that may be a lie. Most of the time I’m not very good about seeing the nominated shorts. We got him (Dec 15 2003 06:55 GMT) - It's great that we captured Saddam Hussein. Hopefully it will be a quick trial and the Iraqi people will bring him to justice. Unfortunately, I think the violence will continue throughout Iraq, as those from Iran and other surrounding nations sneak past the border in order to wreck havoc on the rebuilding process. Whether you were for the war or against the war, I think we can all agree that the capture of Saddam Hussein is a good thing. I think we can also all agree that Iraq deserves a fair shot at rebuilding things. |

Should LeBron have the Cavs winning more games? (Dec 15 2003 06:55 GMT) - John Hollinger, over at Sports Illustrated, argues that LeBron James is taking too much heat for the Cavs not winning more games. He argues that when you compare LeBron's first season to many of the other great players first seasons in the past, LeBron is doing a decent job. He also argues that LeBron is doing quite a bit better than those high school turned NBA pros that came before him. And, even if LeBron only becomes as good as Kevin Garnett or Kobe Bryant, that's nothing to sneeze at. That's all well and good, but what Hollinger doesn't talk about is Carmello Anthony and the effect he's having on his Denver Nuggets. |

Chinese Authorities Annoying Poster Spammers With Automated Phone Calls (Dec 15 2003 06:54 GMT) - It appears that authorities in Shanghai are picking up on one anti-spam method: spamming back the spammers to knock them out of commission. The BBC is reporting that a system has been set up to automatically call phone numbers found posted in posters and fliers around the city once an hour, telling people to take down the illegal posters (and to pay a fine). After a couple days of hourly annoyance, the system will increase the rate of calls to the point where phone numbers found in such posters should expect to receive one such automated call every eight minutes. The only way to stop the calls? |

One small feature bothered me. The three wise men were wearing firemen's helmets.Totally unable to come up with a reason or explanation, I left. At a "Quik Stop" on the edge of town, I asked the lady behind the counter about the helmets. |
