Another Penguin... (Dec 15 2003 18:59 GMT) - Had a few requests for more shots of the African Penguins from the Mystic Aquarium. I really do need to get back out there real soon (haven't been yet this month!) hopefully with a tripod and maybe even some rented glass. In the mean time here is another shot from about a month ago. Last nights snow was followed by sleet and rain... |

Fighting Back Against PATRIOT Expansion (Dec 15 2003 18:56 GMT) - Not too long ago, Dave Winer at Scripting News pointed to an article in Wired News about some doings in Congress that slipped expansions of the PATRIOT Act into an unrelated bill. When I read the article, it got me really upset. That's exactly the sort of thing that undermines people's confidence in government and their representatives. The more I looked into it, too, the more angry I got. But there didn't seem to be any direct avenue for me to express my frustration. |

Keeping Our Eye On the Ball (Dec 15 2003 18:56 GMT) - In all the hoopla about the capture of Saddam Hussein, the Post decided that this story should go in the very back of today's A section... great news judgment, guys. Washington Post: Pakistani Leader Narrowly Escapes Attempt On Life Pakistan's president, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, narrowly escaped an attempt on his life Sunday when a powerful bomb ripped up a section of a bridge in the city of Rawalpindi seconds after his motorcade crossed it, officials said. |

Give Us A Hand (Dec 15 2003 18:54 GMT) - If you love Jewschool and, generally, what we've got going on over here with our various projects, like The Open Source Judaism Project, The Yada Blog (which we also host), Steven I. Weiss' Kosher Bachelor & The Metro Section (both coming soon), as well as the also-soon-to-come rebirth of Bang It Out, design support for JDub Records (with artists like Mattissyahu & BEN), not to mention our secular work, you might be able to help us with a little problem we're having. After our system was recently hacked (you may have noticed something about a "panic box" replacing the Jewschool homepage sometime last week), a few of us here pooled together the resources to move over to a new and improved server, where we would have more protection against such hack attempts. After some research, I decided to give CI Host, a Texas-based webhosting company, a chance. The following complaint I just filed with the BBB explains the all-but-wonderful experience I've had with CI Host thus far: |
