Another note on Saddam's capture (Dec 15 2003 23:07 GMT) - Although I am happy to see that Saddam Hussein can now face the music for his years of tyranny, I can't help but feel that the world would have been much better off if the Iraqi people had taken care of Saddam on their own |

Feeling the squeeze of international outsourcing (Dec 15 2003 23:07 GMT) - I had been looking forward to a modest increase in the pay rate for the financial writing I do - the first pay increase in two years of doing this work - but that increase was rescinded today when the client company sent down an edict: |

Il me rassurait, je me suis mise à pleurer.

komakino : Will you still love me tomorrow? |

Art and Commerce - A self run art gallery for members [Marysa "binditlikeBeckham" de Veer] (Dec 15 2003 23:06 GMT) - RICHARD DYBOWSKI, member of THE ARTS AND CRAFTS CLUB writes the following ***An artist friend of mine is passionate about her art. She paints because she wants to paint, but the fact of the matter is that she has to pay her rent at the end of each month. One of the things that Marysa said at the start of this thread is that she would like to help members of the Arts and Crafts Club to market themselves and to sell their art. Something that immediatley springs to mind is a well-designed web site that exhibits examples of members' works. Perhaps we should look at those gallery-type websites that work and those that don't to learn what to do and what not to do. |

For us less technical people (Dec 15 2003 23:06 GMT) - Just had a co-worker ask that I send him a test email newsletter to his Yahoo! email account because he can't figure out how to use the new anti-Spam/Virus service we're using now at work. The new service is brain dead easy, even for a guy like this. He was given very good instructions on how to use the service several times and he still seems to struggle. This is a mid-leve manager mind you. |

Providing context in programming (part 1) (Dec 15 2003 23:05 GMT) - Bryn Keller is right, my previous post needs a bit more explanation. The point Sean McGrath was making is that a number is as good as meaningless without context. XML nicely provides this context. I want to translate that to programming. The importance of context for data structures in a datafile is probably more obvious than context for data structures in a program. |

Education breeds Sanctification… Revelation or Amputation? (Dec 15 2003 23:05 GMT) - I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the place that education holds in the church tradition that I come from. I’m not talking about going the going to school to be a lawyer type of education, but about Christian education. You know… the thing that happens every Sunday when the pastor stands up to teach you something more about God... |
