The Campaign of Hate and Fear (Dec 16 2003 13:39 GMT) - Some of my fellow Democrats are unpatriotic by Orson Scott Card:And the most vile part of this campaign against Mr. Bush is that the terrorist war is being used as a tool to try to defeat him--which means that if Mr. Bush does not win, we will certainly lose the war. Indeed, the anti-Bush campaign threatens to undermine our war effort, give encouragement to our enemies, and cost American lives during the long year of campaigning that lies ahead of us. |

Where Have I Been? (Dec 16 2003 13:39 GMT) - Well, as you can tell, updates to the site have been few and far between lately. Truthfully, its not because I am busy as hell, but more because I just havent paid enough attention to the blog :) That, and the fact that not enough news has been out there! But, I have been working on some projects lately. You can look forward to the next version of my Text Editor coming out soon (no date set). |

Bicycles As WiFi Access Points (Dec 16 2003 13:34 GMT) - This story, "Using a Bicycle to Uplink on a Downtown Platform," from the New York Times, talks again of the Magicbike (check this former post on Smart Mobs). Mr. Gitman, an artist who is teaching a class at the Parsons School of Design in collaboration with Eyebeam, a media arts organization, intended the stunt to be a demonstration of his Magicbikes - ordinary bicycles rigged with networking gear that transforms them into wireless Internet access points, using the wireless fidelity, or Wi-Fi, technology now built into many laptops. The bikes can connect to and amplify the signals of Wi-Fi transmitters in the vicinity. Or they can tap into a cellular data network, as was the case with a Magicbike parked at the top of the subway stairs. |
