With millions of people in college, the total number of college graduates has increased, but the proportion of those who begin their degree and leave, for whatever reason, has remained rather consistent. That forty percent is rather invisible, dissolved into the great mass of graduates. In the past, when a college degree was more of a luxury than a requirement, this might not have been of particularly great concern. But now, a college degree is the most important predictor of future success, both mental and financial. |
