Don't Dream It..... (Phoenix) (Dec 17 2003 23:24 GMT) - Raven wanted me to relate a couple anecdotes from my youth, to help show that the tendency towards kink is something in the blood. You can try to ignore it or repress it, or you can just accept your kinkyness and try to make it work for you. I wasn't raised with religious hangups about sex, so I guess it was easier for me to just go with it and accept my kinkyness.I can remember having cross-dressing tendencies by around 2nd grade. I never wore my mother's stuff, nor did I steal from my friend's sisters or anything like that. |

meiwes update Let's leave the ... (Dec 17 2003 23:21 GMT) - meiwes update Let's leave the Saddam story to the provincials for a while, shall we, and turn our attention back to the other big continuing news item, the trial of Armin Meiwes, The Cannibal of Rotenburg. Now as I've probably said in an earlier piece, Armin is kind of in a gray zone because Germany has no laws against cannibalism. And the courts can't really try him for murder, because his dinner asked to be eaten. (I know, I know, I see a nice piece of steak and it seems to say the same thing, but this was on video.) So the best law that the German courts can dig up is "killing on request", a charge akin to America's assisted suicide law, which means that Meiwes is looking at five years max. |

Smear of eco-skeptic Lomborg reversed ... (Dec 17 2003 23:20 GMT) - Smear of eco-skeptic Lomborg reversed The Danish science ministry has harshly chastised its own Committees on Scientific Dishonesty (DSCD) for its emotional attack on Bjørn Lomborg's book "The Skeptical Environmentalist." The Ministry, which is responsible for the DSCD, has today released a critical assessment of the Committee's January 6 ruling. The Ministry finds that the DCSD judgment was not backed up by documentation, and was "completely void of argumentation" for the claims of dishonesty and lack of good scientific practice. The Ministry characterises the DCSD's treatment of the case as "dissatisfactory", "deserving criticism" and "emotional" and points out a number of significant errors. |
