Britain and Morocco reach conservation agreement for Volubilius (Dec 18 2003 00:59 GMT) - I see that Britain and Morocco have reached a conservation agreement for the ancient Roman site of Volubilius in Morocco. “Volubilis was a Roman settlement constructed on what was probably a Carthaginian city, dating from 3rd century BC. Volubilis was a central administrative city responsible for grain production in this fertile region, and exports to Rome. Volubilis was also administering contacts with the Berber tribes which the Romans never managed to suppress, but who only came as far as to cooperate with the Romans for mutual benefits.” This website has some nice pictures of the site including two of the thirty mosaics uncovered there. |

We all know that well written content is paramount to maintaining repeat traffic to a web site but just what qualities pique the interest' of the major search engines? This can be a convoluted topic where the unique characteristics of each search engine are considered to create highly appealing content. In most cases, however, the general concepts are all that you will need to know to attain a positive search engine placement, especially when you are focusing on less competitive goals. After all, accuracy is not always required when your target is as big as a barn and you are only a few feet away. |

RF jammer thwarted Musharraf assassination attempt (Dec 18 2003 00:58 GMT) - AFP says the recent assassination attempt on Pakistan's President General Musharraf was prevented by a radio frequency jammer installed in his armoured car. The jammer prevented the assassin's bomb from being remotely detonated. It's a trick that only works once: since jammers work by emitting a strong radio signal, the next terrorist can succeed simply by building a bomb that is triggered by the presence of that signal. Nevertheless, one wonders what the official reaction... |
