Magnatune Page Live (Dec 19 2003 20:59 GMT) - My album I Don't Know What I'm Doing is now up on Magnatune. This means you can listen to, buy and download high quality versions (including full CD-quality WAV). The price is flexible, you can pay anything from $5 to $18 and I get 50% of whatever you decide to pay. Pretty cool! I'm real interested to see what happens and happy to be on board with the not evil folks at Magnatune. |

clarification (Dec 19 2003 20:59 GMT) - There either is or isn't a threat of an imminent terrorist attack. It may or may not be against New York City. You should probably be nervous and panicky, at the same time appearing nonchalant and bored. The alert code... |

Meet the New Damian Jackson, Same as the Old Damian Jackson (Dec 19 2003 20:58 GMT) - Reports have the Sox closing in on a deal for infielder Pokey Reese. The Herald suggests that Reese would likely be the starter at 2B (barring any further moves), with Mark Bellhorn sliding into the utility role, but I would expect the reverse. Reese brings to the table exactly what Damian Jackson brought--versatility, defense (though to a much greater extent than Jackson), speed, and weak hitting. It would be ironic if Reese returned to the Sox after his briefest of brief stints with them a couple of offseasons back--certainly one of the old administration's wisest moves was not signing Reese to a long-term contract. Anyone who remembers that offseason, though, could appreciate the paranoia surrounding the prospect of another season of Jose Offerman at 2B. |

diplomatic straight (Dec 19 2003 20:58 GMT) - I should be happy cuz today I had my last class for the calendar year. But I am not. Thursday I had a real disaster presentation which, although not graded, killed my good mood for a while. My 'very old man' aka grandpa seems to be diagnosed with cancer , my mom's very concerned cuz of that (of course!), my sis is as pissed off with this x-mas shit as I am, and me ? |

(Dec 19 2003 20:57 GMT) - Bush declares search for Iraqi weapons a non-issue and US is bringing home chief weapons hunter: either Bush administration lied in the first place about Iraqi weapons or they are taking a dangerous risk of dismissing what could be a big threat Independe |

My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard! (Dec 19 2003 20:56 GMT) - Confession time: I actually bent my boycott this season and gave some RIAA-label CDs as gifts. The reasons for that are complicated and beyond the scope, but anyway, here's an amusing Web site about why one shouldn't do that. [My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard!] |

Let's hear it for revisionism (Dec 19 2003 20:56 GMT) - The other day I was in Liquidation World shopping for gifts, and they were playing a selection of the worst Christmas music evar; including "I saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus" (not a great song to begin with) with some little kid lisping "I did! You've got to believe me! It really happened!" with steadily-increasing desperation in between the verses, and a version of "Have yourself a merry little Christmas" (HYAMLC) with nasty, depressing lyrics. |
