Campaign Finance Roundup (Dec 19 2003 23:10 GMT) - Jonah Goldberg has the best answer to campaign finance reform I've ever seen: expand the Congress. With more members of the House of Representatives, there will be fewer constituents per seat, meaning lower media costs to run for office and therefore less worry about raising money. John Lott, meanwhile, tells us that current campaign finance laws are dying as the National Rifle Association has already figured out how to exercise its free speech within the law. The BCRA exempts media outlets from its stifling of political speech, so the NRA has decided to buy a television station! |
