Trouble Setting Up 802.11g Networks (Dec 19 2003 23:50 GMT) - [Wi-Fi Networking News] - ĚĹ%@ĚĹ%@ters at the Dallas Morning News tried out a couple of 802.11g products and ran into a lot of trouble: This story gives a nice glimpse into the experience of a couple of guys without tons of technical experience trying to set up a network. They first noticed incompatabilities between products that were based on the draft standard and those issued after the final standard. They also struggled with implementing WEP and WPA. |

Linux: Reiser4 In 2.6? (Dec 19 2003 23:46 GMT) - A brief thread on the lkml discussed whether or not Reiser4 would soon be stable enough to be merged into the 2.6 kernel as an 'experimental filesystem'. When it was suggested that this might be overly optimistic, that the filesystem may best go into the 2.7 development kernel [forum] first, Hans Reiser disagreed, "I don't think it is vastly optimistic, I hope we can send something in next month". Helpline Comment (24791) (Dec 19 2003 23:45 GMT) - Oddly I have 2 IDE drives a 80gb. Western Digital caviar and a Maxtor Diamond Max 120gb.I have them connected to a Ultra 66 port made by promise tecnology and all correct drivers are loaded but when Windows 2000 profesional loads they are identified as scsi drives but they both work properly and load data correctly why is this? P.S please ignore typing errors. |
