babao : Matelas pneumatique (Dec 21 2003 02:39 GMT) - Hé bien, aujourd'hui, j'ai regonflé mon lit! Héhé. Oui.

The Centibots Project (Dec 21 2003 02:39 GMT) - The Centibots are part of a military project funded by DARPA, the Pentagon's Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. Working in teams of up to a hundred, they are designed to conduct surveillance in hazardous areas, spot intruders and find "objects of value'' like prisoners or wounded people. After a year and a half of development, the Centibots' creators say they are ready to show their stuff to their military backers. The goal of this project is to advance the state of the art in distributed robotics. The development is structured to exploit existing research solutions that are fairly robust (self-localization, path planning) and then identifying and exploring areas where research is still needed but where solutions are being developed and refined (map construction, multirobot concurrent mapping) as well as areas where significant research is needed (human and robot interaction, team formation). |

RSS Winterfest loads up with simpletons (Dec 21 2003 02:38 GMT) - RSS Winterfest 2004. RSS Winterfest is a free two-day Webcast augmented by Socialtext Eventspace on, you guessed it, Internet Syndication and standards like RSS and Atom. We're also presenting alongside some good folks.... [Ross Mayfield's Weblog] I hate to say this - but this is a rather lopsided collection of folks..... I'd hate to be Anil at this event - it seems to me it's been loaded up with the 'simple' camp. |

Lesnoraíth Babel Text Submitted (Dec 21 2003 02:33 GMT) - Michael Morgan uploaded a new Babel Text, Lesnoraíth (A Constructed Lanauage by Michael Morgan). "Lesnoraíth is my first attempt at a constructed language and has existed in its current form for about 2 months, although I've been playing with the idea for about 4. I hope to develop the language to a point where I can actually use it to journalize and converse with my children. The name, Lesnoraíth, was chosen before I learned much about Tolkien's Sindarin and coincidentally translates to "Noble Tongue." It is currently simply a working name and will probably be changed eventually. |

Anti anti-anti-idiotarian maths (Dec 21 2003 02:32 GMT) - Just a quick one on this timely hour, via Ivan Janssens: a calculation by Parapundit of some figures by SIPRI, giving us an idea on who sold what amount of weapons to Iraq and when. Nothing new or surprising, just some handy material to remind the anti-anti-idiotarians of one or two things:Figures are trend-indicator values expressed in US $m. at constant (1990) prices. |
