Is Google good for you? (Dec 23 2003 10:59 GMT) - Technology analyst Bill Thompson wonders why he cannot stay away from Google, even though he has his doubts about it, in This BBC Piece. Sweet, available everywhere, and the first choice of the consumer. The fine wines and elegant cordials are still available, of course, but Coke outsells them all, just as Google outranks other, more refined, search tools. |

Watch out, that library book could be fatal (Dec 23 2003 10:59 GMT) - Bob Cox spotted This Toronto Star Article that asks is literature incapable of inspiring moronic acts of mayhem? They say people are influenced by what they see and read, and authors have little control over how people will react to the ideas in their books, so when will we start seeing the lawsuits? "Many of the controversial novels of the last century were publicly condemned because it was believed they would lead to a decay in public morals. Carte de Sejour (Dec 23 2003 10:55 GMT) - So, I've been procrastinating for a while going to the Prfecture to apply for our Carte de Sejours (residency carts). First because I was gathering the proper documents. Fresh copies of birth certificates with proper attestations and translations. Passport photos, financial records, copies of phone bills, etc. But I knew I didn't quite have anything needed, such as proper documentation of health insurance coverage, so I didn't quite know what to do. |
