Dennis Kucinich interview Mike Pence, ... (Dec 24 2003 19:57 GMT) - Dennis Kucinich interview Mike Pence, who used to blog in this neighbourhood, is hanging around Kuro5hin these days, and he has just interviewed democratic presidential hopeful (very hopeful) Dennis Kucinich. Kucinich wants to take the US out of NAFTA, the Free Trade agreement and the WTO, immediately leave the running of Iraq to the UN and withdraw the armed forces, make it harder for businesses to outsource labour, and give the US universal healthcare. And, yeah, he loves open source and wants to decriminalize drugs. Personally I find Kucinich's healthcare and drug ideas rather interesting. |

Blogger News Item (Dec 24 2003 19:55 GMT) - A White House spokesman has this morning denied that President Bush overreacted when told about a suspected case of BSE in Washington state. According to sources close to Mr Bush, he immediately began jumping about, hanging his tongue out and scraping it with his fingernails. Once calmed by his aides, he then proceeded to issue orders to the military that mad cow proliferation should not go any further. These are thought to include the bombing of abattoirs dealing with beef, placing land mines around the edges of cow fields and closing the US-Canada border. "Mr Bush was extremely concerned at the discovery of BSE in a cow and I don't think you will find anyone who will say he didn't act appropriately," the spokesman told DeadBrain. |

Renee's A–Poppin' (Dec 24 2003 19:54 GMT) - Gothamist has always felt "heavier" (which means "normal" outside of Hollywood) Renee Zellweger was a much better alternative than the scary skinny Renee (over aerobicized arms, bony back). So when we saw her on the Late Show with David Letterman, we were very happy. Renee was basically poured into a red dress and stunned Dave, who said she should wear that every year for the holidays. Here, here. She was kind of incomprehensible and weird during the interview, but that's another story. |

America's Chickens Are Getting Fatter (Dec 24 2003 19:52 GMT) - Like the human population, America's chickens are getting fatter. According to a study done at Virginia Tech, the average chicken is 20 percent heavier than its ancestors of 50 years ago. Now scientists are working around the clock to create what one expert calls "the holy grail of good eating" for America's overweight millions -- a finger-, hand- and arm-lickin- good, 200-pound chicken. Spyware watches 'every keystroke' (Dec 24 2003 19:51 GMT) - CanWest News Service via canada.com network - Spyware watches 'every keystroke'. Downloaders of free digital music should be aware their computers may be infected with spyware that could compromise passwords and even online bank accounts, says the president of a prominent global Internet security company. John Schwarz, an executive with California-based Symantec, laid out a chilling scenario for members of the Vancouver Board of Trade in a keynote address recently. "If your kids download music, I guarantee you that on your home computer you have a piece of spyware that tracks every keystroke you make on your keyboard, and telegraphs those keystrokes to somebody who's watching your system," Schwarz said. |
